Noel Freeman
Lead Vocal and Electric Guitar
Noel first recorded country music with Eric Scott at Radio 7LA in Launceston in 1962. Then in 1964 formed the well known East Coast based Rock band "The Phantoms", but in the early 70's the boy from the bush turned back to country and in 1980 formed country band "Desperado". 2003 saw the creation of country rock outfit Loaded Dice, now regrouped and revamped to become "Code West". What's Noel do when he's not writing and singing? Why hell, he's checkin' out Birds 'n' Bourbon.. What else would a good ole country boy do. Noel received awards the
Australian and New Zealand Songwriting competition
in 2005 with "Texas Ranger", and 2006 with his song "Honkytonk Crazy".
Annie Pearce
Rhythm Guitar, Pedal Steel, Backing Vocals
Annie has been playing rhythm guitar for Noel since 2003 and was instrumental in the creation of Loaded Dice.
2005 saw her searching music stores and the net for a Pedal Steel Guitar, and her S10 Carter has become the love of her life and has added a new dimension to Code West. So now she’s gittin’ real busy – Electric Tele, Acoustic, Pedal Steel and vocals (Now where did she hide that Oboe?)
Malcolm Gregory
Bass, Vocals
Malcolm was originally from Victoria. A very capable Lead and Bass player, he played for several Rock/Blues outfits on the mainland, then moved into sound and production for some years. He later moved to Tasmania, Code West was looking for a Bass player and the combination of Noels ‘charm’ and four gallons of stout made the rest history. Malcolm also takes responsibility for sound and mix. He has recently gone into battle with a Mandolin, but I would have to say the Mandolin doesn’t seem intimidated in any way!
Trevor (*Rusty*) Pearce
Drums
Trevor originally hailed from Sydney, and first sat behind a kit of drums at sweet sixteen, playing 60s pop/rock. The years between 73 and 76 saw Trevor in England, and later that year moved back to Australia playing trad./jazz through the 80s. 1985 brought a move to Tasmania and with it a transition to blues. Earlier this year the sounds of The Flatlanders, Poco, and Eagles turned a good ole city boy onto
COUNTRY MUSIC !!!!!!!!
